What is Botox? Everyone knows the name Botox, since this was the first of its kind on the market to be used for aesthetic purposes, but what is it? Botox is a purified derivative of the Bolutinum Toxin. This means that Botox is not toxic, and Botox is not absorbed into your bloodstream. Botox is injected directly into a small muscle by a very small needle, and this injection is virtually painless. Botox is meant to relax the muscle, therefore smoothing it out. Giving the face a smooth appearance. At Fluid IV Lounge, I use both Botox and Dysport. Once Botox or Dysport is injected, onset of Botox is 5-7 days and Dysport is 3-4 days. Full effect usually takes 10-14 days for Botox and 7-10 days for Dysport. These agents can last for anywhere from three to four months. For people with a high metabolism or that exercises a lot, this can wear off quicker. This procedure can be done in as little as 10-15 minutes, can be done on your lunch break, and no one will ever have to know! Most people, by the time they leave the office, have no redness or marks left on their face. It is possible, however, that sometimes it can leave a brief small mark that resembles a mosquito bite but this usually resolves within an hour. I always say that Botox or Dysport leaves one looking less grumpy or angry since it relaxes your forehead muscles. Botox can be used between the eyebrows, along the forehead, and at the crows feet on the outer edges of the eyes. I hear quite often, “I do not want to look fake or frozen.” Botox or Dysport are meant to leave you natural looking and you are still able to make facial expressions, although people may not be able to tell if you are giving them the “stink eye” ha! In some instances, and in appropriate candidates, Botox can be used for smokers lips to smooth lip lines around the mouth.
Am I too young to get Botox or Dysport?
Women and men as young as in their twenties start receiving Botox or Dysport. Everyone ages differently, and due to genetics someone may start developing wrinkles in their twenties. In others at this age, people may choose to start receiving Botox or Dysport to PREVENT wrinkles from starting, by relaxing the muscles. Botox is not just for women (ask my husband!) Whatever your reason may be, I love it when people tell me they have increased confidence and feel beautiful after receiving their treatment! Also, by coupling your Botox treatment with my Inner Beauty IV drip – that is full of Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, and Biotin which is good for hair, skin and nails, you will feel beautiful inside and out! It is truly a match made in heaven!
Did you know Oviedo has a place to treat varicose and spider veins (sclerotherapy)?
I do sclerotherapy, or vein injections. If you suffer from varicose veins or spider veins this can be injected with a medication. The medication irritates the vein wall, making it collapse and eventually your body will reabsorb it, similar to a bruise healing. You will need to wear compression stockings afterwards in order to put pressure on the veins, and you are encouraged to walk or exercise after this in order to get the blood flowing out of these veins. This procedure only takes about 20-30 minutes, and is performed with a very small needle that should not be painful. If you have unsightly veins on your legs and want to get your legs ready for the summer, do not hesitate to call me for a free consultation and I can assess your legs. Multiple treatment sessions may be needed, but this can be determined at your free consult appointment. You should also be advised to wear a strong sunblock while being in the sun for two weeks after your treatment
What is the difference between Botox and fillers?
The general rule of thumb is fillers are for below the eyes, and Botox or Dysport goes around and above the eyes. As a person ages, there is loss of the fat pads of the cheeks and thinning of the lips. This is part of the natural aging process. When this happens, the cheek fat pads can actually start to sag, giving one the appearance of a sagging jaw line and cheeks. By replacing this volume and softly plumping the cheek area, this can correct this giving one a more youthful appearance. I always tell people that the two sides of a person’s face are not a perfect identical twin, but in fact a close relative. What this means is the two sides of a person’s face may not be identical and people can age differently on one side versus the other. How does this happen? One side of a person’s face may be flatter due to sleeping habits, which side a person sleeps on, and also sun exposure. I have seen a deeper nasolabial fold on one side of the face due to sun exposure while that person is driving. As part of my job I will do an assessment and make recommendations based on this. Filler is more expensive than Botox or Dysport, but this can last for anywhere from nine to twelve months!
My question to Oviedo: What’s not to love about Botox or Fillers?
I offer an affordable option for your med spa services with Botox or Dysport costing only $8 a unit! I do not want to look ten or twenty years younger than my age and look fake, I just want to look good for my age and want the same for you! It is important to leave people natural looking and happy with their results. I tend to treat very conservatively because I can always add a little more, but I cannot take away if I add too much of a product. This leaves you with natural looking results that you can be happy with!
